Congressman Phil Gingrey Statement on August Job Report

Statement

Date: Sept. 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Phil Gingrey (GA-11) today issued the following statement in response to the latest unemployment report released by the U.S. Department of Labor.

"Today's disappointing unemployment figures are another reminder that President Obama's economic policies continue to fail the American people. With 14 million Americans out of work and an unemployment rate of 9.1 percent, we simply cannot afford more of the same. It is long past time the President recognizes that his agenda has stifled job creation and hampered employment prospects for so many in our country.

"As President Obama prepares to address the nation next Thursday, it is time for a new direction. I urge him to consider the many proposals put forth by House Republicans to spur economic growth. By addressing out-of-control spending, removing burdensome regulations, and reforming our over-complicated tax code, we can encourage job creators and the private sector investment so desperately needed to get our nation working again."
